Dreamer

Today is MLK day. For a lot it's a holiday that's taken for granted. A day off from work and school, and little thought is given. For many is a day to celebrate a man who gave his life to the greater good for so many. For a fight that, unfortunately, is still be fought today, this day, almost 50 years later. It's a day, that I feel, we all need to spend time reflecting on. Really understanding what the day means.

In a time of palatable fear for the future and signs of hate everywhere, try to be the best person you can. Try to love those who need it most. Try to turn the other cheek. Try to be the Christian that Jesus would recognize as walking in his footsteps. Try to always look at the person next to you with the compassion you'd want. Try to be understanding, even when you have nothing in common other than your humanity. Be kind, be kind until it hurts, and then be kind some more. Stop worrying about what someone else is doing and worry about how you're making this world better day by day. And finally, fight, fight for injustice, fight for love, fight for compassion, fight for acceptance, fight for those who can't fight, fight for those who's voice has been stolen. Fight!
