Weekend Recap (a day late)

This weekend was very nice! As always a blur. My parents came for a visit. Now that we live here and they have moved to Colorado, we don't see them nearly as much. Makes the girls sad, but it makes the time we get to spend with them so precious. They got in Friday night and we just spent the night at home visiting. My oldest had her boyfriend and a neighborhood friend over for dinner. Baked chicken (2),  mashed potatoes, broccoli with cheese sauce, green beans, salad and onion sourdough loaf. Both the boyfriend and friend said "Do you all eat like this every night?" Made me feel good and kinda bad all at once. I love to cook and am able to do so without any stress now that I'm a SAHM. All and all it was a great night. My mom and I stayed up until 12:30 am catching up, it was lovely.

Saturday we were slow moving. It was gray, rainy and finally cold! We made two pots of coffee and breakfast kinda to order as everyone got up and moving. After breakfast and everyone got a shower my parents took the girls to the movies to see the Trolls movie. Everyone said they thought it was super cute and it had an awesome message. Even the oldest cynical child of mine loved it. But said that it had to do with Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick as the voices. I totally get that. Then after the movie they spent several hours at the mall shopping for their Christmas gifts. The girls loved that, mom my not so much. Ha!!

While the girls were with their grandparents, we got to venture out without kiddos. It was very nice. Husband went for a hair cut and dropped me off at Nordstrom Rack for some shopping. I finally got a Blardigan, and gotta say and I am a believer in all the hype. It's amazing, soft and just so cozy! I got it in heather gray and am going to get it in white and any other color they have!!

Then we headed out for lunch. We went to a place I've been wanting to try since moving here. I follow them on Instagram and drool over every photo they share of their tacos. Big Truck Tacos in OKC. They did NOT dissapoint!
Since I've never been there I wanted to try everything, HA! So we got to share 5 tacos! Yes 5, I was so stuffed after, all I wanted to do was nap! We got: The Rancher, it was like pot roast on a taco with pickled onions and carrots, so good. Green Chili Pork, it was similar to a pork street taco, so good. The Guardian, it was a spicy ground beef taco, delicious! Fried Shrimp Taco, it was amazing fried shrimp with a mango pineapple chutney and a super spicy cream sauce, it was my favorite of all of them. And then we got the Chefs Special called 5th Amendment, no one knows what it is other than the chef. They tell you if it's vegetarian or if it has gluten in it and that's all that all anyone other than the chef knows. So we think it was shredded chicken with traditional street taco fixings, cabbage, onion, farmers cheese and cilantro. It was my second favorite. I LOVE street tacos!

So after our lunch blowout we headed to Nothing Bunt cakes, oh yeah, lets not leave out the sweets!! I got a lemon mini and my husband got a cinnamon swirl mini. We then headed to Target to pick up a White Elephant gift for a Christmas party we were heading to later that night. And a HUGE Starbucks coffee to go with the mini bunt cakes.

We came home ate our cakes and drank our Starbucks and watched tv for a few hours, there may have been some napping......

Around 6 the girls got home and we got ready for our neighbors annual Christmas gathering. It was so much fun. We got to meet new people, eat food not prepared in my house and play games. There was a bartender so we tried the new festive drinks he was whipping up. We had a great time. Already looking forward to next years party!!

Sunday was super low key. We got home late and felt it. My parents got up early and headed back to Colorado, they were gone by 7:30 Sunday morning, there was a lot of crying from little girls. My husband and I sat on the couch, drank coffee and watched tv most of the day. Did some laundry, I made a pot of chicken and dumplings and got ready for the week ahead. My husband had to get up at 3:00am to get ready to be at the airport by 5:00am, so we had an early night. But we did watch the Season Finale of WestWorld......WHAT!!!! We'll talk about that tomorrow! But WHOA! I can't wait for season 2!!

Hope you all had a great weekend too! See ya tomorrow!
