My house is a mess anyone want to help out? I have been yucky feeling the past few days and my house is showing the signs. You ever have those days when you look around and go Wow how did this happen? I woke up that way today. That's ok, I'll have plenty to do to pass the time.
This weekend is the Delta Fair here, my kids are so excited. Some yummy fair food and some good ol redneckin!
I am in need of a recipe (Amy help). My grandma and I think one of my aunts used to or still does make a slaw like recipe that has ramen noodles (uncooked) almonds and cabbage with a vinegar dressing. Holy moly it's so so so good. If anyone out there knows please send it to me. I have a hankerin!
Today I did my 1st duty as a room mom. I sat and tore out workbook sheets to help my daughters teacher out. Oh man my daughter was so proud that her mommy was at school. I think that totally made her day. I'm thinking of taking the Paraprofessional test to be a teachers aide, so once all my kids are in school, maybe I can work at the school where they go?? Maybe???? I don't know how much I like kids, no just kidding, well kinda, hehehehe.
This weekend is a holiday weekend, whoohooo! No school on Monday, YAY! Very excited about NOT getting up that day, hehehe.

Jeans vs. Genes
Today I hit my "My ass is too big" point!!! I tell ya, this is sick. I'm getting a jogging stroller (fingers crossed) and hittin the street! I do not come from a skinny group of people so I'm always going to short with big thighs and a big butt, that's ok, but my gut is really yuck. I gotta get movin!
Ok so now that's out of the way and I can move on.
So this weekend was a blur or movement. Yikes it went fast. Friday night we took the kids to PNO at their gymnastics studio with some of their school friends and then school friends parents along with Ed and I went out to dinner. We went to Abuelo's. YUM, we had margaritas and tons of fun. I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp, YUM!!
Saturday we were up and running early. We had a party to go to at Paint a Piece, and we hadn't gotten the gift yet. So I let my kids go wild at Justice, I was the "COOLEST MOM EVER" for that one. Little girls LOVE Justice. So birthday girl got a cute little outfit (dress with leggings) a matching pair of earrings, a pack of head bands and a HUGE sucker that said Justice. My kids also got a pack of head bands and some ink pens. And I even had a 20% off coupon, whoohooo!! Kids had a BLAST at the party ate tons of sugar and got to make a mess and I didn't care since I wasn't cleaning it up. I went out with my friends on Saturday night and had a great time. We ate lots of yummy cheeses, imported Salami, spinach artichoke dip and drank beer. I had a Tecate, in a can. It was good, I was surprised.
Sunday we were up early to get ready for Mass. UGH, we didn't get out of the house on time and got there right as Mass was starting and didn't get a seat. UGH!!! We had to sit in the lobby with all the other folks that got there late. OH well, lesson learned, be early to Mass, it's the place to be on Sunday mornings. We came home ate lunch, kids laid down for a nap and I watched my Jamie at home on Tivo. I made a roast chicken for dinner and it was YUM. Ed went out for a while and when he came home we had spanish sparkling wine with brie, manchego, smokey gouda, feta, dates, grapes, tapenade, sopresetta, black pepper salami and toast rounds. We sat in the living room and watched Anthony Bourdain in London. It made me miss Europe. I really want to go back and visit, or live whatever.
Well I'm off to get kids ready for Gymnastics, yay.

No job, oh well
I weighed it out and decided that it just wouldn't be worth it to leave Georgia for that long every week. I know it's not that many hours, but it is for someone who has always stayed with their kids. And the care I can give her is more important than 150/200 bucks a week. While I would LOVE the money, I would NOT love someone in our lives that much. I parent my kids the way I want and that is the reason I decided to leave my GOOD job to be with them. So that's that. Maybe in another 3 years when she is 4.

Lands End fall and maybe a job??
I LOVE the new stuff from Land's End for fall. Some SUPER cute stuff, check it out. I love love love the orange patent tote and the orange mocs. That would be so so so cute with a brown sweater with a nice white button up shirt under it with a cream quilted vest. So cute!!
So a friend of ours asked me today what kinds of clerical skills I have. I said Man I got Mad Skilz, YO! I was Admin Asst for General Sessions Criminal Court here in Mempho-town for several years before becoming full time mommy. He asked if I could do account receivable??? I said never done it, but I know I could if shown, heck I learned HTML programing because I wanted to. So there! His family owns a business and needs someone about 20-25 hrs a week to do some clerical/data/accounts receiving kinda stuff. I would LOVE to do that stuff again, to have my own money (yes yes yes, I "have" my own money now, but I don't get a paycheck). OMGoodness, to get out of the house a few hours a day, OHMIGOODNESS! The only down side, who would keep Georgia?? I can't afford to pay anyone and Nana and Papooh do not live close. What to do what to do????? I want extra "mad" money so BAD!!
And on to money. When did the catholic church start charging for religion classes??? When I was a young catholic it was free. The church offered it and I went, what happened????? Yeah, for Lydia and Claire to start it's 85 bucks!! What!!! AND it's one and a half hours long. Yes 1.5, 1 1/2 HOURS! Claire (age 4) will NOT be happy. But whats a catholic mom who can't afford catholic school (at the moment) to do?? Lydia has to have a year of religion classes before she can be confirmed. That's next year, so no choice!!! UGH, I really wanted a patent leather pair of Mocs and a matching tote, boohoo. Maybe next week.

It's Saturday, Georgia was up at 6am, what the heck!!! I have a PTA meeting at 9am. Who does this, Saturday at 9am. Your kidding right!! Georgia has learned that there is a removable tray on her high chair and when she takes it off and throws it to the floor it A. makes an awesome sound (to her) and B. the dogs come a running for food bits that goes a zillion different ways, fun. Off to shower and get ready for Parent fun at school and drink LOTS O coffee.
Enjoy pictures of my middle child. Poor thing so much the middle child.

So sleepy!
UGH!!! I feel like a zombie today! I went to bed early enough, around 10:30 - 11:00, but my sweet baby Georgia did not sleep well last night. I half slept all night and finally at 5:00am she was awake screaming for a bottle. I fed her, and why may I ask do they eat so so so slow when your about to drop them from being so sleepy???? Any who she finished at like 5:45 and was back asleep. I jumped into the bed hoping for an hour of sleep. NOPE!! Didn't get back to sleep before it was time to get Big girl up for school at 6:45am. Why can't I fall asleep like my husband??? Seriously people, he can get into the bed and is asleep in like 30 seconds, it makes me sick. I just want to put a pillow over his face. So today is shopping day and I feel like a sleepwalker! I don't think there is enough coffee in our house to keep me going today. I may have to "rest" on the couch while the other kids are having quiet time. But look at this face, who could NOT love it!!!
OK, question for anyone who reads this. How do you do your grocery shopping? Do you go in there blind or do you take a list??? I spend a whole day making a menu for the upcoming week, check the sales ads to see where I'm going for what and then make a grocery list. My list is everything we might eat in a week, breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner, dessert and evening snack for the hubby and I. My husband thinks I'm crazy for spending so much time doing this?? Most of my friends just go in there with no plan. If I did that I would come out with wine, beer, cheez its, cereal, half and half and maybe some diapers. I glaze over in there without a plan and a list. I have to do this for every major shopping trip I make. School clothes shopping for Lydia, had to have a list of all things I needed, after making the list of things we already had. Am I crazy??

A few firsts
Georgia and her 1st Oreo

Lydia's 1st day of 1st Grade

Lydia at her desk in class, awwwww see her Panda lunch box in the back. She's so proud of that box, it's a Planet Earth lunch box and it's made out of recycled plastic bottles. She says using it make her feel good because she knows she is doing something good for the earth. Such a sweet kid!!!

Not a 1st but a cute picture of MessFacePigPants(nice nickname hu) and TurkeySue.

And she's off
Today was the big day. School started. The 1st thing she said to me this am was "I don't know if I'm ready mommy". Broke my heart. I think once we got going and she was in the school she was better. Then we met her teacher and things got much better. She knew 3 kids in her class from last year, thankfully!! I hope she has a great day!!! She kinda kicked me out, I said to her "I'll say a little longer ok" and she said "No it's ok, you can go ahead and go". Just like that, didn't even look up from her coloring, nothing. UGH, heartbreaking. I'm not ready for my kids to grow up!!

School Shopping
It's done for another year. We have jeans, carpi's, shorts, shirts, shoes, panties and socks. We have all required school supplies. That was so fun to me as a kid, getting supplies, new paper and all that. I think my daughter is a happy camper. We still don't know who her teacher is, but I think she is at ease with it all now that she knows I'll be at school a lot. My MIL came along with us yesterday to help with the baby while we tried on clothes. I promised the kids that IF they were good that I would take them to toys"r"us so they could spend their allowance money. They had a great time and ended up with a easy bake oven and a snoopy snow cone make. My arms are rubbery from making snow cones. You have to crank that thing to get the ice shavings to come out. Don't know if any of you have the cheese grater from Pampered chef, but it works like that. I'm ready to hit target to get a electric snow cone maker. We also did cookies in the easy bake, wow they were crunchy, but they tasted like a cookie.
I'm in a dinner rut, ya ever get there?? I'm sick of the regular things I make and can't find anything that sounds so yummy. If my kids had it there way we would have spaghetti, garlic bread and steak every night. I love lighter things like shrimp with tomatoes, garlic and pine nuts over whole wheat pasta, hubby does not. So we (me) are in a a rut. I think tonight I may make ham and biscuits??? I don't know. I would love to hear any suggestions you all have. If anyone is reading this thing, hehe.

Somedays
Somedays my kids make me so happy that they are here I can't even put that feeling into words. I love em and am so happy to have them! Thanks be to god today is one of those days, they are being sweet to each other and to us today. Through the baby monitor this am, Lydia said to Georgia (Lydia goes to see her every am before doing anything, she also gets in the crib with her) "You sure are as happy as a clam today, I think today is going to be a good one for you". So sweet. Later Lydia told me as we were walking back to the car through the melting parking lot at the fabric store, "Wow mommy it's sweltering today". Thank you WordGirl. I love to see her proud of herself to for using one of her "new" words. She is so very nervous about starting 1st grade and having a new teacher and new friends. I feel for her, I understand her anxiety. I really remember those last few days before the start of the new school year. I know she will love it, because that's the kind of kid she is, but her BFF is being homeschooled this year and it's breaking her heart. She is very happy though that I'm on the PTA board this year and will be room mom, she thinks I'll be there to check her out of school early whenever. Hehe. Nice try though.

Sometimes things don't work the way you hoped
Well while the kids were gone I had hoped to get so much sewing done. That's all I wanted to do. I was able to get a dress for the baby done and one for myself. My kids were gone 4 days only and my oldest daughter got hysterical and wanted to come hone. She was missing her baby sister too much. So my mom came and stayed a week and a half with me. Wow, love her, but was so glad to see her depart yesterday. She is a SUPER NEAT FREAK. So this whole time was spent cleaning everything, and I mean everything, not sewing like I had hoped. My driveway, patio, garage, house, attic you name it. I feel guilty to let her do it alone, so I helped the 1st week and was on jury duty this week. Thanks be to god I was selected to be a grand jury alternate. So that meant only 2 days. Monday and Thursday. I was done by 10am both days. Woohoo! But I have a house so clean inside and out it's GREAT and I do LOVE my mom to death and love spending time with her! She is going thru a really rough time right now with my brother, so she was so happy to be here and distracted.
So here and the things I did sew. I also made the burp cloth, but not this week.
This pattern is Simplicity 3509, easy as pie to make.

This pattern is Very Easy Vogue V8379 wrap dress and boy was it easy to put together.

I LOVE the front of this dress!!! It doesn't slouch and my top doesn't hang out.

My oldest trying her hand at needlepoint.

Up next is something for my older daughters, something fun. I'm still trying to start my smocking, it's so scary to me.
Tomorrow I'm going to see Dave Matthews Band. I'm not a huge fan, but it's free and why not.
